Showing BTC merchants in OrganicMaps

In order to show BTC accepting merchants in Organic Maps follow these instructions:

  1. Get the latest data from OSM using this query on overpass turbo. It might take a minute or so to run and will ask you to 'continue anyway' as the data is >10MB.

  2. On overpass turbo click Export and then download the KML version of the data. The export feature does not work on some mobile browsers.

  3. Import the KML file into Organic Maps by either:

    a) Method 1 (Direct open): Locate the KML file on your device → Tap/hold → "Open with OrganicMaps"

    b) Method 2 (In-app import): Open OrganicMaps → Tap the star icon → "Import Bookmarks and Tracks" → Select your KML file

Voilà!

Note:

  1. The data will not be kept in sync and so you will have to repeat these steps periodically to ensure your data is fresh.

  2. Organic Maps creates a list upon each import. Ensure you delete any old lists to prevent deleted merchants showing.
